Research is not just science. It is also an art.
Art flows through an artist. It involves intuition, imagination, and meaning. An artist sees patterns and beauty that others might miss. So does a researcher.
An artist is a conduit through which the collective memories, pains, and joys of a community flow as creative energy. In that sense, all art is collaborative. As is research.
Your artwork is not a product or commodity for consumption. As an artist, we are not here to sell or buy art. Art is an offering. An offering is perfect as it is since the intentions behind it are what counts. An artwork is an offering from and to our communities. As is research.
Sharing one's art with one's community isn't self promotion or vanity. It is indeed your ethical responsibility to share it publicly with the community that you serve. Same as research.
There is no guilt, shame, or pride. It just is. It is not yours in the first place, since you are simply an instrument not the creator really. It is from, of, and to the community. So is research.
